What is the least restrictive muffler i can replace my flowmaster with???
I have a 3 inch flowmaster catback with an slp y pipe and no cat. anyway want a different sound out of the car and would liek to gaina few ponies. what muffler is the least restrictive? does flowmaster amke a bolt in single chamber for our cars?
i dunno what kind of muffler your looking for but, the slp loudmouth is straight through design.
I also have one for sale. its a catback designed for the dual cat cars but i also have the single cat conversion pipe and hardware for it. It's all stainless and has only about 4,xxx miles on it, was used for about 4 months. i'd like 200.00 + s/h
thanks,
Nick

Put a Borla 3.5" XR-1 race muffler in there.... straight thru.... probably be loud as he!!. I run a 3" XR-1 in each side of my duals, and a buddy of mine is pushing 1,325HP through a pair of 3.5" XR-1's. With engine dyno testing, the Borlas out performed race mufflers of up to 5".

You really need to listen to the different systems and decide what you like the sound of.
Actually a Dynomax Welded muffler will flow the best and take the most sound out of the exhaust at teh same time. They are not quiet but flow ungodfully well and even on a engine dyno have little to no losses. Getting one of those and painting it to prevent rust would be the best way to go.

I have no cats with a Flowmaster muffy. Having no cats and Flows feels alright to me but I feel what your saying. What i did was run a E-Cutout before the muffler and open it part way in the city and open it fully on the freeway. Pretty scary, it tells me that I should be at the track and not surfin the streets with open cutout. Use DMH e-plate if you do that. I like the sound of Borla & Dynomax or Hooker. I would pick any of those three, but that's just me. Especially with no cats..! Man, I love it.
I would think that SLP loudmouth would sound just like open headers but without the crackle..i dunno..stay away from that..waste of money since you can make your own freeflowing pipework.

I'm running and SLP 2ODL.. It's actually pretty quiet (compared to my dumped true duals I'd been driving around with for a year
) , and seems to flow really well. I'm also running a 3.5 inch int. pipe.
Only thing is it doesn't look all that good on a TA. Not IMO at least.
