what kind of timing chain for a 96LT1

If it doesn't work you'll end up with a snapped chain and the need to buy a new motor.

Why do people cut corners like this??? Besides the fact that a double roller is cheap security anyways. Sure it might work for some people, but why take the risk? The stock chain is a piece of garbage.

To run a double roller you need:

Remove CPS reluctor ring
Electric water pump
93-95 style hub

As far as programming it out, you need to tune your car for your new setup anyways, so just have whoever is doing the tune disable the CPS in your tune, it does nothing to your car except turn off the misfire detection which with a lopey cam will be going off falsely anyways..

do i need a different cover? or just the hub? how about timing cover? if i can use mine..does anyone have a picture of what it looks like after its been machined?-Mark

You use your own timing cover, and just clearance it with a dremel. I'm sure someone has some pics.

Either way, just put some grease on the chain and test fit it and grind where you need.

You can reuse your old cover just leave the sensor in place but have it programmed out. Once you put on the double roller chain just put some grease on the front of the chain and put the cover in place. Then remove, everywhere that has grease needs to be ground away.
