Mixing in some 15w50 with 5w30 or 10w30 will help thicken it up close to a 40wt on the top end, but also keep in mind that it will thicken up the bottom end too, so this type of mixture isn't desirable for cold weather use, that's when you'd want to go with one of the other oils I suggested, especially the 0w30, 0w40 or 5w30, as these are better for the winter.

Its hard to keep the original oil in there believe me... specially with it leaking out all the time due to the LT1 leaks... So i have a scraper and little pan i carry with me... if i see the oil leaking out i'll scrape it up and poor it back in...

oil is too expensive anyways.

I always hear people complain about how expensive synthetic oil is, but yet they still change it every 3k, even though changing it every 6k would still give you just as long engine life, but at half the cost.

EDIT: You're talking about people that change synthetic too often. I'm an idiot .

Regular oil plus an AC Delco filter is about 10 bucks down here.

Synthetic oil with a synthetic (Mobil One) filter is around 35. With a regular filter its around 25.

It is still cheaper to use the cheap stuff more regularly as far as I can tell...?

My personal choice is to change the oil every 2k (Castrol 10-40) and use a Mobil one filter. Costs about $20.
