I have some aluminum metal shavings in my oil and I think I may have wiped out a bearing so I was needing too know if any of the bearings are aluminum.

They are actually several different kinds of metal that are put together. I can't remember what the process is called, but it's almost like they're laminated...

As long as aluminum is not the top coat I'm be happy. I think it's called tri-metal or something like that. Whatever kind of metal is in my oil filter it doesn't stick to a magnet. Summit bearings say tri-metal is copper-lead alloy.

The bearing material varies with the manufacturer. But the only part that is magnetic is the backing, so just 'cause it's non-magnetic doesn't mean it's not bearing material.

OK, well it's just really small splinters of shiny metal in the filter. I'll take a pic later and post it.
