I don't think you are going to see anything on the dyno. Eliminating the mass of the clutch pulley is the only change that would affect HP. Its the 50+ pounds of weight off the front end that makes the biggest difference.

In the summer the car gets fatser from you sweating off extra pounds from the heat, thus a lighter driver. Dont do it unless you have a bad ac comp and dont have the money for a new one.

im having A/C problems as well, just it needs a good refill, and possible to check out some wireing, the pump wont kick on for some reason, unless i wire it open from the relay box.... but thats a whole other story... as for deleting your A/C to gain a loss of weight.... of 50+ lbs? where are you getting this figure?!?!?!?!!? im sorry, but my A/C compressor dont weight 50 lbs... and i dont see how the lighter things like the compressor lines, condenser, and accumulator would accumulate 50 lbs.... 20? 30? maybe.... but 50? thats a little steep..... just my opinion, but cutting out your A/C just makes it less enjoyable to putt around town... if you got another car? do it... but make sure the other car has good A/C.... if not? fix it.... its SO much more worth it to have the luxury of A/C.... cant pull up to a line of women sweatin like a ***** in church and expect to get one of em to take a ride with you...

48.9lbs.

Condensor, Compressor, (compressor is a heavy bitch!), theres a lot that adds up..its been checked. Take a few pounds out of R134a and you have 50

Re: What kind of gain from a/c delete

I took mine off because I run with the T-tops off all summer anyways.

It was about 50 lbs off the nose.

Probably less than 1hp gain since there is virtually no loss when the A/C is not engaged.

But 50 lbs off the nose makes a difference.

Re: What kind of gain from a/c delete

Injuneer knows his shiat.

I am doing the A/C delete as we speak. You guys have to remember some of us don't live where it's 80 degrees everyday. Some of us live where it snows half the year and the rest of the year it's around 75........which you won't be sweating at all with the windows down-probably be shaking. If i lived in like cali or flordia or texas i would definately leave the AC in, heck i\d probably pay 1000dollars to fix it if i lived in texas where it reaches 100 degrees. So what's good for some is not good for others. Not to mention my ac is broke and i'm sure not paying up to 500 bucks for something i use only a few times a year. And that's all i have to say about that

Re: What kind of gain from a/c delete

how much is a 50lb drop worth in the 1/4? someone once told me 100lbs is a tenth--don't know how true that is though....anyone else heard this?

Re: What kind of gain from a/c delete

Ive heard the same thing...
You dont really do it for the 'gain' in hp..its like taking out your spare tire/back seat at the track to hit a magic number. I removed mine for the same reason you said, Mine seized up and it snows/stays cold here most of the year.. so not really a big deal to live without A/C the week or 2 a year its hot out. Frankly I would rather cruise with the T-tops off on those days anyways... so its all good.
