what intake flow's better?

I have a 95 intake that won't seal on the right(pass) rear of the intake, this will be my 4th time doing the job I have never had tyhis much trouble doing this. Anyway the motor and head's came out of a 96 camaro and i was wondering if i should be using the 96 intake? The 95 looks to flow better. But i will use the 96 if it seals! They are different look

Lots of RTV gasket I believe, could be wrong, but an LT1 intake is an LT1 intake The only changes that I know of between the 95 and 96... Was the computer and addition of 2 Cats. I don't believe they changed the heads or intake in anyway. Could it possibly be the heads or intake you're using are warped in some manner? Overheated at one time?

Same part number for intake manifold for 94-97, only 93 is different due to lack of crossover tube. That 95 manifold looks ported.

I can't use anymore rtv on it! LOL

The 95 intake has never been ported, it still has the casting marks on the inside.

Interesting...I have a 94 and the ports look opened up like the 95, but I know it has never been ported. The casting number suggests that maybe GM changed vendors on that manifold somewhere along the way since the part number is the same.

im guessing maybe either the heads or the intake is warped. check it for warpage with a precision straight edge and feeler gauge.

Your heads may have been surfaced and done wrong or your block was decked. It looks like the bottom isn't sealing.Get some thicker gaskets and try them(they make them).

Re: what intake flow's better?

I believe there are three different intakes the 93 and older with the different fuel rail crossover, the 94-5 and the 96-7. We can limit the discussion to the 94-7 pieces for simplicity. I am sure GM does list just one part number but either will funtion just fine in place of the other so it only makes buissiness sense to stock one. The 94-5 has larger ports, which will better match ported heads but are larger than the ports on as cast heads which will create a bad step and flow restriction, the 96-7 intake has smaller ports which more closely match the as cast heads. I don't think either intake is worth swapping out for the other as cast. In this case I would just try the 96 intake since the 95 has been troublesome, if the problem continues then look at the heads more closely.

I think i'm "jonny come lately" on this, but if i am reading this right, there is 2 different kind's of Alum head's?

I will try a different TQ procedure, doing the M/R/F instead of M/F/R, and using the 96 intake.

Hope it all works, thanks guy's
