what the hell is wrong with this

I have an oil leak and i can't freaking find it. Or i found it and can not stop it?!!?!?

The leak ends up dripping off the bell housing. I would say rear main seal, but it is obvious that the leak is coming from the out side of the bell housing. There is a trail of oil on the out side of the housing.

The starter is also covered in oil.

As far as i know, there are only a number of things that can leak in this area, here they are, and why i do not think it is that:
Dipstick: changed to lokar dipstick... seated in block perfectly.
Valve cover: New valve cover and gasket. Gasket RTVed to cover. Perfect seal in cover. cleaned surface THOUROULY.
Rear intake seal: changed, no oil where intake meets block.
Oil pan gasket: it seems like the oil is too far up on the block for it to be this. Maybe it is??

Any one have any opinions on this? I need help soon or i'm taking it to a shop and making them do something about it. i'm sick of it. can't figure it out

Back of the intake?Valve cover? There is nothing else in that area to cause an oil leak, that I know of.Tranny dipstisk tube if it's an auto.Could it be anti-freeze?

no oil on the top of the bell housing. and i changed it just becuase it looked like it was sloppily done before. so that rules that out.

ahh sorry about that

It is definatly engine oil. I am running a little low everytime i check it.

I would not be so concerned that i'm losing oil becuase i know i am not burning it... but its COVERING my o2 sensors/ exaust with oil. Guess its flying backwards when it drips. And i killed two o2 sensors due to this oil (i'm assuming its due to oil). So not only do i have an oil leak, but i spent 90 extra dollars in o2 sensors.

Is it an LT-1 block?Have you pulled the starter? IT is oil correct?
Is it coming from the front of the engine and blowing down the side?

no i have not yet pulled the starter. what is back there that i would notice if i pulled it? I jus assumed that there was nothing back there that would leak so i left it there.

Just thought of rear main seal, but that wouldn't get the front end of the starter wet unless it is a big enough leak to put enough in the starter for it to run out the end cover. If it isn't blowing down the side, from the front, man ya got me,If I saw it that would be another thing but if it isn't one of the things I already mentioned then I'm lost for suggestions.

i am stumped as well. the front cover does leak alittle. maybe it is leaking more then i thought. i am going to thouroughly clean the engine tomrorow nad check it out. drive it around the neighborhood and stop and check it ever few miles.

Is it safe to engine bright that side of the engine and hose it down? As long as i do not get any water on the front of the engine near the opti? will everthing else be find with the water? o2 wires, starter, plug wires, ect...

Clean it with brake cleaner and towels and don't chance any water around opti or plug wires.

That stuff will be allright. The opti is what you need to stay away from.If you want to clean it wet your towel and wipe it don't spray it.The plug wires will be OK too with brake clean. It dries fast but a little spendy. You might want to get 2 cans when you go.
