what the hell is a dizzy

Heard its a gear behind the water pump that drives the oil pump. Huh? I thought the oil pump was in the back of the block, driven off a shaft. Water pump is in the front. Please explain. Thanks

People refer to distributors as dizzy's.. mostly old school people.

Your distributor is behind your waterpump, ie, your opti.

dizzy == distributor, it doesnt drive the oil pump and is behind the water pump, but on gen 1 sbcs its on the back of the block behind the intake and drives the oil pump.

Off topic-you were right the other day mdacton. It's not 3 and 4-links, its MacPherson strut and SLA. Sorry!

But.... as I explained to you, in terms of machine design principles, a strut type suspension is a 3-link mechanism, with a sliding link. A short arm/long arm suspension is a 4-link mechanism.
