What the Hell is This???

What the hell is the tube that leads from the bottom of the intake elbow on the LT1??? And what function does it serve???

I'm sure it serves some purpose but from it having a closed end on the bottom of the tube it simply looks useless!

If I'm not mistaken, I do believe it is a silencer tube.

Second that, silencer tube. It's purpose is to help the car meet noise requirements by quieting the air rushing through the intake tract. I think it's common name on here is "donkey dong"

Is That Elbow Replaceable...and If So Will The Engine Sound Any Deeper Or Will You Get A Deeper Intake Sound? Any Way You Can
Plug It With A Rag?

1-877-726-8295 call and ask for Jason Cromer. Ask him to get you the 1LE intake elbow. Make sure you get him the right year of your car so you will get the vented/nonvented opti elbow. The tube is for silencing air intake noise and it is also designed to help reduce reversion and add low end torque. If you ever decide to use an electric water pump CSR type, you have to use the 1LE elbow because the water pump will interfere with the tube. You will also appreciate the extra rigidity the 1LE elbow has over the stock one. It is much easier to put on.

"donkey dong"
you can yank it out and make a piece of wood to fit in the hole then seal it with silicone
thats how mine is, works great and was free with a tiny bit of elbow grease

Re: What the Hell is This???

highly unlikely that you will see any gains by removing it, it might become a little bit louder in the intake track but nothing entirely noticeable

thats why i made mine, screw buying the 1LE part
