Look into the Victor Rienz/Mr. Gasket .026 so long as the pistons are at least .005 down.

I run these on both of my cars. Beware of how they are packaged and double check the gasket before installing. My last set that had black cardboard were packaged wrong, got a replacement set with blue cardboard and they were packaged better/differently.

Re: What head Gaskets you running??

The Victor packaged sets have always been fine, and last packaging I saw from Mr. Gasket was finally right.

There are lots of options but for some reason nobody ever wants to include any info about how they want to use something.

I mean a stock shortblock is likely .020+ down in the bore, at that you want as thin a gasket as you can get, but a built motor might be zero decked and if it is a .026 gasket is not the right choice.

I forgot to mention these are the same gasket sold under two different brand names and Victor is an OEM supplier.

Some tight piston to head deck clearances in here or are your pistons in the hole a little ways?

I like MLS gaskets if the surfaces are smooth/clean/well machined.

Most of the guys doing "built" LT1s aim for .032-.035 quench, we can get away with lots of compression and good quench helps detonation resistance further helping us get away with more compression.

The stock b-body gasket is popular too and is .029 Felpro is .039 and stock f-body is .049

Re: What head Gaskets you running??

Just seems alittle tight below .035". With thermal growth and rpm, thats getting abit closer to the head but should still have some room. I've always used .040-.041" gaskets with good success, zero deck blocks. I've used the Fel-pro MLS's before. Good success with those. There was an older black coated version and they changed to a blue coated version. Have heard some issues with leaks with the blue version but I didnt seem to have any problems on my boosted motor. I have cometic now tho.
