what happens when you unplug the IAC?

what happens when you unplug the IAC?

what happens when you unplug the idle air controller? will it stay in its current position?

Car will stay reved at about 2500 rpms.

It should stay at whatever position it was at when you disconnect. Shoudn't it?

Yeah, that's what it will do, but when you plug it back in, it will be way out of synch with the pcm. It's best not to unplug it while it is powered up.

how do you get it re-synched?

Why did I know you were going to ask that?

This is supposed to work:

IAC reset

-Depress accelerator slightly

-Start engine, then release accelerator pedal, run engine for 5 seconds

-Turn ignition "OFF" for ten seconds

-Restart engine and check for proper idle operation


I suppose if it is too far off, you might have to try that a couple of times.
