What happened in this picture?

Can anyone give me a hint? Did a line temporarily leak or something?

Incidently I've been getting a check engine line lately.... maybe time for a new opti?

Well it looks like coolant, so apparently you have a leak (probably loose or broken hose). It could be your water pump, but that looks more like a hose problem. At any rate, unless it drowned your opti you might be ok in that respect. Check all your hoses. Be sure to cover your opticrap before you put water in to check for the leak. JMHO

Re: What happened in this picture?

Well the reason the coolent is that color is because I have rust in my radiator.

All the guages read fine, the temps are in the 170 range. It got up to 200 when it got about 85 degree out the other day. Nothing unusual.

I have not gotten the car scanned, it is too expensive. 70 dollars the dealer wants. I'm going to ask someone from a local club if they can scan for me.

All the hoses look attached, and its not leaking anymore. Obviously it still has coolent because its not overheating.

i would atleast vote for a coolant flush b/c if you have thet much rust in your radiator it might be time for a flush or even a new radiator...but looking at the pick it looks like a lot of it was coming from the thermastathousing might want to look at that seal and make sure its still good

The coolant starts out orange (dexcool). It does tend to get yucky and rusty looking too.

If it isn't leaking from a hose or bad pump, then maybe the radiator, but I'd still get a pressure check to see where it's is coming from. If it did it once, it will do it again and if you drive it hot you can kiss your block goodbye.

Looks like the thermo housing is leaking or a heater hose is leaking. Can't tell without looking, run the car with the hood open and see where its spraying out.

Re: What happened in this picture?

I see a couple things. First, looks like it's coming from your bleeder screw on top of the waterneck. Try tightening it, both parts. Right there would only leak when hot and pressurized. The second thing, your upper rad hose looks pretty bulged right there. Could have a pinhole. I'd replace it before it bursts. Next, if you want to replace your opti, keep driving it with antifreeze leaking all over the front of the motor. Last, Dex-cool is orange, but if it's rusty, change it or you'll be changing the water pump. I'd say your cooling system needs a tune up. Hope it works out, good luck.

Damn. Around here I can take my car to Autozone or Murry's and have it scanned for free. I agree with Deckstripes, you need to "tune up" your cooling system.

Autozone can't scan OBD1 computers.

Also, I am driving the honda until monday when I can get it fixed.

Re: What happened in this picture?

Ok when it his 200, your overflow kicked in. I know mine does that alot of the time. I always have my overflow filled up too much anyway. Thats why you have all of that rust in there you need to clean it out.

This is what is looks like happened to me. Where ever the leak is coming from, caused it to leak from that big hose. It ran down the bottome of the hose. That is why there is that unique drip pattern, and the spray pattern from it getting on the belt. I would check the connection of the opper radiator hose, and check under the clamp the make sure that hose isnt cut or cracked under the clamp, thats the type of leak it looks like to me. It also looks like the leak could have come from the bleeder screw as stated before, but i would check the bottom of the hose to see if it has a run mark. It would have had to drip on the belt alot to get that much on there though. I would check the bleeder screw, that seems more of the logical explanation i suppose.

Flush your system though. Go to wal-mart and get the preston kit. It's like $6. Remove your thermostat and run the engine with your garden hose on and in the kit. Works perfect.

Re: What happened in this picture?

I thought autozone coudl scan OBD-1 cars...the problem is that '95 models have an OBD-I computer with an OBD-II style port. Well, regardless they can't scan his '95

Re: What happened in this picture?

They can scan OBDI, but not the 95 f-bodies which have an OBDII connector

The coolant is either coming from the bleeder screw, thermo housing, radiator hose....OR it could be coming from the weep hol and being flung upwards by the belt assembley. I only guess this because of the splatter marks on the intake pipe and coolant residue on the Opti connector.
Check the inside of your hood for any other location indicators.
