What happened?

I've installed my 63k mile lt1 out of my wrecked formula into my 92 s10. I also put in a cc305 cam, timing chain, and bowtie 1.6 roller rockers. I have LT1 edit and have tried both custom and stock programing. My problem is that the motor runs like a dog. It ran great when it came out of the bird. What's up??? I'm ready to shoot this thing. I've spend 6 months retrofiting everything. It has no throttle response, backfires through the intake every now and then. When I get on it and has NO power. Yes, I aligned the dots on the crank and cam sprockets. No, I don't have a miss or a burned plug wire or something wired incorectly. My only possible diagnosis is that it set up for a while, about a year, and maybe something went wrong. O2 sensors????

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Re: What happened?

Sounds to me like you have one of the valves set too tight. It might be worth re-checking them.

Re: What happened?

Would that make it run horribly across the board? It seems like the timing is bad or something. It acts as like it's retarded badly and firing too late.

Re: What happened?

Bad ground of what? What would cause this?
I tried unpuging the knock sensor since I don't have the lt4 knock module yet. This didn't help.

Re: What happened?

I have done motor swaps where I forgot a small ground and the whole car will run like crap. Even had one last year on a cherokee where I had the ground strap bolted but didn't scrape the paint off the area and the jeep ran like hell until I gave it a good ground. Something to check out. Do you have a scanner to check for codes?

A bad, wrong or shorted KS will make your car run like complete crap. when I installed my 383 GM sent me the wrong Knock sensors (The ones for the F-body not the corvette) and it ran like compleate crap and set a code 43. You need to try geting rid of the codes first and see if it clears your problem up. A new KS is about $36 and would be where I would start. You also need to disable the VSS into the ECM, Ion, did this for me and it worked great when I did my LT1 swap, he also disabled all the emisions stuff. A bad O2 sensor would only cause problems once the car warmed up.

Re: What happened?

spark plug wires have been checked more times than I can count. I unplugged the knock sensor. By the way, it is brand new. I think the circuit itself (wire) may be brittle. I'll replace it later.

I have been using pcmcomm to see what's happening while it's running. It shows the trans to be in 3rd gear. It's in park. What's up with that?? I think I have some electrical issues causing all this crap. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: What happened?

I just had a thought...I went through two sets of hardened pushrods after my cam install because I was getting coil bind on my springs and it bent the crap out of 'em. Could I have collapsed lifters as a result of this? I took them out and visually inspected them (I didn't take them apart) and they seemed fine (no flat spots). What do ya think?
