What is a good synthetic 5w30 motor oil?

What is a good synthetic 5w30 motor oil?
I know most people say mobil 1 is great but I am wondering what else out there is as good or better.

I can get redline for $5.60 a quart but that's a bit much for oil, I think.

I started using Valvoline (is that how you spell it) syn oil. Its 4.68/qt. Doubt its the BEST but hadn't had any problems yet. I think I use 10/30 though. I can't member now

GM recommends Mobil 1 for the vettes. Don't know why, but it is good enough for me to use it in my 97SS.
