What is a good moderate clutch???

My parents are offering to buy me a new clutch for graduation, and I want somethiung slighlty better than the $250 stock replacement clutch. Is there a decent setup for around that price, or a little more?

Alright, is it the same price as the stock replacement? And do you think they would have it at the local autozone or will I have to order it online?

Is it worth it to just replace the clutch disc? Is that the only thing incluided in the stock replacement kit?

Not sure what you're asking here, but I'll try to help a little. First of all, is your clutch slipping or making weird noises? If not, don't change it. You only need a new clutch once your current one is worn to the point where it slips.

I'm not sure what's included in the stock replacement kit, but if you are going to change a clutch, you need a new clutch disc, and a new pressure plate (they usually come with the throwout bearing). You also need a new pilot bushing for your crank and you should have your flywheel resurfaced. If you are getting a "kit" they usually have the clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and sometimes an alignment tool. But to know what comes in the kit, you should contact the dealership where you plan to purchase it. HTH

you should go with the LT4 pressure plate and the LT1 clutch disc. the LT4 pp is the same pp used in the SPEC clutch packages because of the increased clamping power over the LT1 pp. the parts can be ordered about half price if you do it thru Jason Cromer.. just do a search for his phone # since i dont know it by heart yet. the pp is around $207 and the disc is $180 so you can check locally if you go thru a dealer.. i doubt if youll find a better price!

Well, I called and the kit comes with the clutch disc, pressure plate, bearing, and tool. I think it works okay, but I figured I would replace it since the engin eand tranny are out right now. Any other similar aftermarket kits?
