Re: What is a good code scanners for the lt1?

I just bought an AutoXray EZ-Read 2000 which is advertised to scan 82 and up GM and others. But, this will not scan my 95 Z28 engine. Does anyone know why?

Thank you,
Langley

I don't think that code reader comes with the correct cable. The '95 is OBDI with an OBDII style connector. You'll probably have to buy the proper cable from Autoxray.

The original EZ-Read 2000 requires an "upgrade" package to be able to handle 83-95 OBD-I's. It can also be upgraded to read OBD-II:

OBDII isnt a type of scanner, its the diagnostic computer in the car..up to 95 had OBDI(alittle less advanced) and 96-present have OBDII(more advanced) its means On Board Diagnostics models I and II....but scanners dont delete egr no, they can an Service engine light code cuz of the emissions and erase it but it will come right back if the computer sees its still wrong, for that you would need a tune (dynotune, or mailorder(madz28,pcmforless)

I think he knows that. He was asking about the two different scan software links that were posted.... I posted the link to AutoTap, and EvilBox posted the link to OBD-2.com, which are both "scanners".
