what gears, for long distance driving?

what gears, for long distance driving?

Can someone reccomend a gear ratio for long distance driving. 3:42 s i was thinking but what about 3:73? I have 4:10s now. but im eventuall going to take a 7 -800 mile trip, is there anything esle i should look at, or check out before i take it. I mean i know lt1s are dependable. but. lol, thanks, oh its a 6spd too

i went from wichita, ks to waco tx and had to fill up once in oklahoma and when i got there, I filled up about three time the whole way.the whole trip is llike 900 miles, I got 3:73's.. hope this helps

I don't understand. Are changing gears just to take a trip? Buying larger wheels would be an easier option.

well im already running17" ss wheels. but i think that i have the m29 tranny, im not sure. but. would 4:10s be reasonable for a 700mile trip?

IMO 4.10's are fine with a M6. That's what 6th gear is for.

Yeah, 6th gear is so tall I would put 4.56s if I could do it again. Cruising at 80mph my RPMs went up from 2K to 2.3 . I have to shift at the end of the strip with 4.10s anyway so why not go with more gear?

I havn't gone that far in my car in one trip, but in my experience I've found my driving style determines more about gas mileage than changing my gears ever did.
