what gears, for long distance driving?
what gears, for long distance driving?
Can someone reccomend a gear ratio for long distance driving. 3:42 s i was thinking but what about 3:73? I have 4:10s now. but im eventuall going to take a 7 -800 mile trip, is there anything esle i should look at, or check out before i take it. I mean i know lt1s are dependable. but. lol, thanks, oh its a 6spd too
i went from wichita, ks to waco tx and had to fill up once in oklahoma and when i got there, I filled up about three time the whole way.the whole trip is llike 900 miles, I got 3:73's.. hope this helps
Yeah, 6th gear is so tall I would put 4.56s if I could do it again. Cruising at 80mph my RPMs went up from 2K to 2.3 . I have to shift at the end of the strip with 4.10s anyway so why not go with more gear?
I havn't gone that far in my car in one trip, but in my experience I've found my driving style determines more about gas mileage than changing my gears ever did.
Take it easy with your right foot and you'll be fine
