Contrary to popular belief I am not delusional nor retarded. I have taken the rear ends out of both these cars and they are stamped 3.42 on the ring gear even the axel shafts say 3.42. I just took one of the sets out to put in some 3.73s the other day and I still have them right here. I can get pictures of the glove box # for both cars for you. I am sure there must be a code that shows it's an auto and a code for the 3.42 right there together. No matter what you think it IS a fact and it happened more then once. both cars were built in 11/93 if that matters. Anyway I can provide any proof you need.

Relax bubba,

No one is saying you're crazy. The codes are M30 for the A4 and GU6 for the 3.42. Show them on the same sheet and you will have a one of a kind.

Jason, I hope you got the answer to you question. I am really sorry we took over your thread. I am going to go start a new one and see if ther eis anyone else out there with 94s like this.

I'm really confused now. I checked the glove box in one of the cars and it has the GU5 code. I don't understand why they both have 3.42s. Someone would have had to swap the entire rear ends not just the ring and pinion. Like I said they are stamped on the pass. side axel shafts as 3.42. I bought these cars about two years apart and niether one had any mods what so ever. Not a CAI or even a stock K&N. The one had the stock plug wires. What are the chances of my getting 2 like that unless there are lots of them.

Maybe GM ran low on the 3.23 rears in 11/93 and used a substitute. Like they ran out of 6-speeds and it was not an option for part of the year. I don't know I geuss I can't prove they were from the factory, but it is a pretty big cionsidence if they're not. Please feel free to put your input into my new thread. Thanks.

I think I have a similar thing going here... my car has gu5 stamped, but when I flashed the pcm and had the gearing set for 3.23, I am now about 10% off. I thought my RPM seemd a bit higher than where it should have been for the mph, so I asked in a post a few weeks back about it. Now I don't feel so unique... I'll have to jack the car up and count driveshaft turns to be sure though...
