You have two cars in your sig which one are you refering to. The '94 up M6s have 3.42. The '93 M6 can have 2.73 or 3.23. Look at the inside of your glovebox door. GU2-2.73, GU5-3.23, GU6-3.42.

4.10s would be perfect for the 3.42. I was still thinking you had the '93 with my previous responce.

edit; the 94 up have a 2.66 first gear

I remember reading in a road and track article a long time ago (I'm not sure about this at all) that said something like The 93-95 Z28's come with 2.73's or 3.23's or 3.42's.

The ones that came with the Z rated tires got 3.23's (or 3.42's in 94 and 95 maybe?) and also the benefit of not being speed limited at 108 mph (came with 150 mph speedo)

The ones that did not have the Z rated tires stock got the 2.73's and were speed limited at 108 mph.

If this is not the case can someone clear things up?

I can clear it up. I have the article you speak of right in front of me. Only the '93s came with different rear gears with M6s
The cars with the ZR rated tires had the 150 speedo. It had nothing to do with the rear axle ratio. A4s got 2.73 or 3.23, the performance axle ratio.

Any 6 speed 94-02 (not sure bout 93) came with 3.42's. Most your a4's in 94' came with 2.73's altho some did have the 3.23. easy way to tell in the a4'a is to look at the ****fter, if it has a selectable first gear it has/had the 3.23's stock, if it started with second on the shifter it was the 2.73. If your still unsure it is in the dash codes, which is the gu code.

another way to check is jack the rear up, and mark points on the driveshaft and a tire, for every one rotation of the tire, the drivershaft will rotate a certain amount of times...that is your gear ratio.....2 3/4 times on driveshaft - 2.73s, 3 1/2 rotations 3.42s....etc. this is what i did to make sure what gear i had when i bought the car

A little off topic, but reading the other posts makes me want to throw this in. I know allot of people think that A4s didn't come with 3.42 gears but I have owned 2 94 Z28's and they both had 3.42 from the factory. What's up with that?

You are delusional. That has never happened.

No A4 came with 3.42s.

Y87-equipped V6 Camaros and Firebirds did, but no LT1s.
