What Exactly is a lean Condition?

What Exactly is a lean Condition?

Does this mean low fuel pressure?

I assume this is a lean a/f ratio which could mean that either there is a low fuel pressure or low air coming into the engine. Is this correct???

Lean means there is either too much air (highly unlikely unless you have Forced induction of some sort) or there is not enough fuel going into the A/F mix to keep the ratio around what is considered to be perfect (14.7:1 I believe is perfect).

And the cause isn't necessarily low fuel pressure.

How would one see if they had a lean condition?

I just checked my fuel pressure and it wa a constant 40psi while ignition-on-engine-off and a constant 36psi while ingition-on-engine-on.

According to the book my guage came with, this is ok since I do see a vacuum line connected to my fuel pressure regulator, is this correct???

I have a 3.4L... Is this good?

It started storming so I couldn't check the resistance of the injectors

Where can I get a injector test light at?

The GM manual says your fuel pressure at the test connection with ignition ON engine OFF should be between 41 to 47 PSI. Connecting a scan tool will show if you are running lean or not. Lean conditions usually cause your engine to run hot. Your gauge showing 40 PSI may not be a problem. If your fuel presure is greater than the injector rating ,with the engine running, you should be ok as far as fuel pressure is concerned. I can't find anything to tell me what type injectors you have.

I think I found that info. I am pretty sure they are 17Lbs Injectors. Does this sound right?

Info found here:

I have 40psi engine-OFF and 36psi engine-ON. Is this good? (Both with Ignition ON)

I think you have sufficient fuel pressure. especially if your injectors are 17 psi.
