TPS Bad?

What are the symtoms of a bad throttle position sensor? I have weak acceleration and my throttle doesn't seem to want to close back to idle sometimes. 1300 is what it seems to like. i do have traction control if it makes a dif. I can reach under the hood and push the throttle linkage back to idle 800 rpm. Any help would be great.

Sticky throttle body blades, maybe?

It would be rare for the TPS to mechanically hold the throttle open. I would take a look at cleaning the throttle blades as previously suggested. It could also be that your TCS is pulling on the cable and not letting the blades close all the way.

Just buy a bottle of Seafoam Deep Creep (Carquest sells it, or online shops) and a wire brush, something that resembles a tooth brush but has some harsher bristles. Disconnect your intake elbow from the throttle body and the MAF and move it out of the way. Open the throttle body blades up by the link, and use something like a flathead screwdriver to wedge it so the blades stay open. Take a look inside there, if your throttle is sticking this is probably the reason why. Then spray liberally, wait 15 seconds or so, and start scrubbing the blades and the front fascia of the throttle body itself. Once it's all broken loose just wipe it dry with a soft cloth (one that won't leave little pieces of itself on the metal, a shop towel should do). Before you put the intake elbow back on, play with the throttle blades using the linkage and see how well they return to the closed position, and how easily they open. This is the most likely cause of your stick.

The reason I was thinking it was the TPS is that it's a ported one and the blades don't seem to be at a slight angle like the original was. When I got it I did dump some fuel on the blades to look for leak by and it held the gas up better than the factory one did thus I don't think it's leak by. Shoe box if you think it's maybe the traction control, can I eliminate it? (TCS)

I just purposely unplugged my TPS to see if it was bad, and the biggest symptom i saw with it unplugged was that the tranny didnt know when to shift. I'd give it 3/4 throttle pulling out and it would shift around 2500-3000RPM no matter what, even if i accellerated slowly. Plugged it back in, problem solved.

A good way to find out if the problem extends past the TB, is to disconnect the cables and then see if its still messed up. Your best bet is to clean the blades. Its not like it'll hurt to do it
