How many bolts ons and what not does it take to get an LT1 M6 to the perfomance level of an A4 LS1? mainly 1/4 mile times and rwhp.

 

Most to all the bolt on's depending on how your car runs. Definately LT's, CAI, Catback, Tune, 1.6 RR's. Plus a E-WP, gears and ASP 23% Crank pulley wouldnt hurt. But thats only going to get you in the LS1 area, best bet is some cam and weight reduction on top of all that. Then heads and some laughing gas

My buddy had a stock 2000 SS A4 and we raced 3 or 4 times at the track and the best he was able to do was 13.9@100 to my 14.2@99 and I was bone stock. A stronger A4 ls1 could easily go 103-105, but I would say that full exhaust and a cai will keep you with or beat an A4 ls1.

also keep in mind, power on LS1's varied depending on year. early models were putting down a good 30 hp less than the 02's.

 

Dang, that makes buying another Lt1 look like a waste of time.

 

Dude with the mods in my sig i beet ls1 f-body's there not as fast as everyone makes them out to me they usaly run like mid 13s stock where im from and thats like 2 to 3 tenth off a stock lt1. i would just do a cold air, full 3 inch cat back exhaoust with no cats and call it good.

 

No so much. You have to take into account many things. LT1's are cheaper to mod, cheaper to buy, cheaper on insurance, better looking... Anyways the way I saw it when I was buying a 4th Gen was that I'd save $500 a half vs a LS1 due to lower insurance alone, plus mods and repairs are cheaper, plus the initial investment was cheaper. If I had $5k a year to spend on modding a 4th Gen, I could make the LT1 go faster for less, plus have an extra $1k left over since my insurance was less, plus save 3-4K on the initial investment. So its all relative to your needs, wants, and money situation. I'm not saying LS1's are worth the money, but for what I wanted to do, the good ole LT1 suited me just fine.

I witnessed that run and all he has is LTs and 1.7RRs. He makes 313rwhp, a stock LS1 6spd will make 290-300rwhp.

 

It really depends on the driver. I only have a catback, CAI, and DRs and I beat some LS1s and others beat me.
