What does my butt come with??

So I'm thinking of going with some NOS, some suspension stuff, DRs....and a pretty decent shot at 11s...so I guess I will need a new rearend. I got a few questions on it. I was looking at the options and one comes with different gear ratios. Does it actually come with the gears, or just like a cover for the gears? Sorry if it's a stupid question, but I don't knwo rear end stuff. So if I'm thinking of 3.73's with some NOS and DRs, should I just get a rear end, or thegears now, rearend later?

Also, how will I know if I blow my rear?

I think you have to pay more if you are getting gears plus a new rearend. what type of prices are we talking about? if you are going to run 11s with DR and a shot of Nitrous, you will probably need a strange 12 or a 9 bolt rearend (with 3:73's). And you will know if you blow out your rearend when you rev it up, let out the clutch, and nothing happens. Save up, go with a strange 12, 3:73's, and a good set of DR.

try the "For Sale Section", or the advertisors page above the "For Sale Section". I just looked on Tbyrne.com and I'm looking at 3:73's with a 10 bolt, torsen carrier, new cover, and a electronic compressor that recalibrates your speedometer with the new gear ratio. That package comes to a total of $719 (940 with gear installation kit). I think that is a really good price for the quality you get. And if you check, he "might" be having a group purchase of some type going on or maybe he might start one if you ask.

Dude get the rear end first. This way you can just run slicks and pull nasty holeshots all day long. DO NOT waste your money on the POS stock rear if your planning consistent 11's with your machine. Just my opinion though. later!!~~rob

Wait I'm confused.......this is not a new rearend right? Will that support all the power I'm looking to push or do I need to go with the *sniff* $2000 rear end?

Check with Tbyrne on that. He can be found on this forum all the time. He is a great person to talk with and he does great work. He can give you all the information you need.
