Ok,

Mac's are great headers, but I recommend buying used headers. You can get them so much cheaper. Mac's w/ y-pipe go for around $200 to $250 in the for sale forum. Then get the plugs wires etc. Then get FIPK. Something little not to forget is the lt4 KM. It's only like $30 and a good thing to have. Make sure to get the air foil, and do the throttle body bypass.

If you do go with headers remember you have to have the header gaskets ~15, header bolts ~20 to 40, y-pipe gaskets ~30, etc.

I did gears first, but I had 2.73's. I love the gears, and headers are going on next weekend. I got some used stainless SLP's for $250 with off road y-pipe.

You really seem firm on getting the shift kit. No pun intended. My personal preference would say stay away from it until you do a stall.

I think you'll be happy with whatever you decide to do.

If it were my car, I'd go with the converter and shift kit and Cold Air Induction. Summit racing carries the TCI 3500 converter for $482 (part number 243110), the TCI shift kit is $72 (part number 376001). The TCI universal cooler is part number 820500. It goes for $42. That's a total of $596+ shipping. Use the rest to get a used Induction kit.

dual stage nitrous huh? lol sounds interesting, but i think for the current moment, i might have to pass. i'd be willing to bet that you have it sold before i even have this money we're talking about. if not, then we'll talk...

as far as the TCI products go... i spoke with a guy that told me he could get me the TCI 3500 stall w/shift kit and tranny cooler for $710 to my door. that'd be some hellafied shipping if the price you quoted me is correct. if it was less, and leaves me with enuff for the K&N FIPK, then that's the route i'll be going. if not, it looks more towards the headers, etc.

the only reason i'm so set on getting the shift kit is cuz i love the way the A4's shift with the kits on 'em. hard *** shifts with nice *** chirps.

how does the TCI shift kit compare to the TransGo shift kit?

i'm pretty much leaning towards the idea of the stall/shift kit/tranny cooler for $710 to my door right now. it's a good set-up, and it'll take at least .5 off my ET.

i'm still considering some other ideas like MAC mid-lengths w/ off-road y-pipe, new plugs/wires, K&N FIPK, etc.

i can't really think of any other set-ups that would be as good to start off with as those two would. but a friend of mine suggested that i take idea one, skip out on the shift kit, take my car and get the torque management deleted and my shift points/firmness tuned.

i'm really not sure which way to go. it's just too bad i don't have enuff money for what i really want to do lol... it won't be too long before my car is an all out beast

Could just be me, but isnt a 3500 stall converter a little high for a stock cam? I thought the guys running the CC306's had around 3500 stall speed. On a stock can I thought 3000 was overkill.

Just my thoughts, and a 2800-3000 rpm converter is cheaper then the 3500

i'm actually leaning towards the 3200 stall. from what i understand, from what i've seen... it's not overkill. i had heard the same thing, but everyone i talk to about it says it's not. they told me to go one higher than i thought i wanted... but i've decided to stick with the 3200. i think 3500 would be too much considering what i've got right now. if 3200 is overkill, and it drops me a full half second in the quarter... i don't think it's overkill i'll complain about.

It's not overkill at all. I ran a 3200 TCI in my z28 and loved it. Although it did end up trashing my tranny. Go figure. You might want to do a search on TCI converters on here and fbody.com before you buy one. I would recomment a midwest converter. Not much more money, but much better quality.

you're the only one i've heard say anything bad about TCI converters. i know several people who are very satisfied with their product. maybe you had a freak converter and that's why it ****ed up your tranny... or maybe something went wrong with the install, or you forgot something... there's a million reasons that something can **** anything up. but one person has a bad experience, meanwhile another has a great experience. but, as with every other performance product you add to your car, you realize it's life expectancy is going to decrease.

i'm gonna stick with the TCI 3200 converter, TransGo Shift Kit, and tranny cooler for $710. sounds like the best plan to me, and a full half second drop in the quarter just via the converter sounds nice to me.
