I have $800 to spend on mods need some help

Hello everyone I have roughly $800 to spend on mods and would like to get some help picking what items to get.

My car is stock. i just ordered a pro 5.0 shifter and i already have lous short stick. I just got new tires (bf goodrich geforce ta kdw's) last week. Here's what i have planned

k&n fipk cai $190
skip shift eliminator $19
motive gears 3.73 $170 OR
motive gears set with master install kit $254.99

whats the difference between those two? I won't be installing these gears so should i get the $170 one? Is motive a good brand?

I wanted to get a hooker catback and hooker lt headers but the website im ordering from doesn't carry hooker brand so i'll be ordereing them from another website.

The website im ordering from sells slp headers but their a couple hundred more than the hooker one whats the better header?

Im also thinking about:

granatelli Mass Air Flow Sensor $280. Is this a waste of money?

Sorry for all the questions i want to make this right and get the best stuff i can get.

thank you

kyzer soze

p.s. I have a firebird formula 1995

1.) Headers

A.) Hookers Lt's(If you dont have emissions testing)
B.) Hooker Shorties (Ifyoudo) or SLP twin CAt design.

2.) CAI either Moroso, K&N, or SLP, your preference really.

3.) As far as gears get 4:10 with your M6 only if:
a.) It does not rain a lot.
b.) Live in a normally damp area
c.) Dont mind Et Streets
d.) Exceed 350RWHP
e.) You are a good driver.

Assuming you have the stock 2.73 ratio 3.73 should be good if
a.) You suck at launching (I DO)
b.) Exceed 350RWHP
c. ) Live in Normally dry area.
d.) Prefer topend pull over low-end pull

Get Motive they are good, and you do require a new installation kit.

4.) Do not net a new MAF, They are not worth it.

5.) Skip the catback for now, and put some cutouts for the while.

Later

Just depends on what you want out of your car...do you want to make it go a lot faster?? Not interested in that much performance?? More about show??

This is just my opinion:

1) Cold Air intake: $180

2) Cutout: $30

3) Gears (3.73's): $250 (YES YOU WANT THE INSTALL KIT!!!)

4) Torque Convertor - 2800/3000/3200: ??? (This will probably take up the remaining cost)

After these mods, the first thing I would get is some tires to help you get traction. With the 3.73's AND a TC, you will be launching like a bat out of hell and your street tires won't hold it.

Headers are also a good mod to do...if you get headers get an offroad pipe if you don't have to worry about emissions...BIG restriction in the catalytic convertors!!

This is just my .02

i agree with this info...this is EXACTLY what id do and have done...
as for the cat...u can make the cat and ORP interchangable so that when u do (if u do) have to pass emmisions you can swap it back and forth...plus i love the sound with the ORP!!

good luck!

Sorry...get the 4.10's then if you really plan on getting gears. I have an M6 and I wish I would have gone with the 4.10s. Good idea on the ORP and regular Y-pipe!!!

Also, do the Throttle body bypass...it is free (if you do it the CORRECT way) and you will pick up like 4 hp max.

Don't mess with the MAF...it is a worthless mod. I got a really good deal on one is the only reason I have one, but I have actually been thinking of going back to the stock one.

off road pipe..

wont pass emmisions with it. but i had it made so that the cat and the orp could be interchangable when i needed to pass emmisions. thhe cat is highly ristrictive, so it was one of the best things ive decided to do..

some people just "gut out" their cat and its basically the same effect, but if i were to do it all over again, i'd still use the ORP...

Hmmm interesting I might go that right with interchanging the orp and the cat. Im waiting to see what jet-hot going to do with their "emissions legal" lt headers there developing, but if that doesn't work out this is my next option. I really want longtubes. Your "teal terror" looks tight in those pictures.

"Supposedly" the end of february for the emission legal ones. You can check the group purchasing page and see whats up with their stuff. Their supposed to be based off the hooker lt headers but cheaper with jet hot coating included in the price.
