Trans Temp gauge

Ok, tryin to finish up this trans temp gauge install, but when i was tryin to mount the sender into the pan, I realized that the sender is too large and that it is gonna hit the valve body inside the pan. Also it is too long and wont be able to thread the sender all the way in as well. Has anybody got any ideas of what to do with this sender? BTW, it is an electrical trans temp gauge from auto meter. Also i am still confused about this part in the directions about hookin this wire up to the ignition switch...hopefully somebody can shed some light on this for me. Any suggestions for both problems, let me know PLEASE!?!?!?!!? Wanna make this gauge functional ASAP so i can monitor my trans with the new stall in there.

why not get a little pipe extender from a hardware store. Just thread that in a little bit and thread your sender into that

I dont think that would work because the sender has to be somehow in the pan so that it is in direct contact with the fluid. But I may be wrong, also not sure that I quite understand your idea. I dont know if that would do the trick.

I welded a piece of flat stock on the passenger side of my pan & drilled & tapped it to hold the sensor/sending unit. Works great. However there is a plugged port on the top/driverside of the trans that most people use. I chose the pan cause it is actually sitting in the trans fluid resevoir. I doubt it is any better.

its like a piece of all thread with a big hole in the middle that will extend the sender out about an inch.

How thick was that flat stock? Cause that sender is pretty long. You didnt have a problem with it coming close to the valve body? Let me know, sounds like it might work. How much of your sender is actually in the trans fluid reservoir? Just curious

Just did mine this weekend, I used the plugged port on the top/driverside of the trans. More then half of the sender went in. My trans temps seem to be accurate. You might look up ken95z28 website I used his install page to do mine.

I installed mine this pat weekend in the pressure hole too. I can't get mine working for some reason though. The lights go on in the gauges but the needle doesn't move at all. I know I am grounded fine and it has power, the only thing left is the sender wire? I dont see how that could be bad.

What is Ken's site?

This is the install page. I used an inline "T" in my transmission line.
