What is the correct oil pressure?
What is the correct oil pressure?
Like the title says, I think mine's high. Running 10W-30 petroleum based and getting ~60 on the gauge when I'm on it.
Also the pressure drops off to ~30 when I get off the gas and just cruise or idle, is that normal?

Re: What is the correct oil pressure?
Normal.
Pressure at idle will be from 20-40 warm, depending on outside conditions.
Pressure at WOT should be about 60.
As long as it stays between 20 & 60 at all times you should be ok.

Re: What is the correct oil pressure?
Sounds normal. Shouldn't be less than 20psi at any time. I've heard and read that most engines need at least a minimum of 10psi of oil pressure per 1000 rpm for adequete lubrication. So rule of thumb... don't let your rpm exceed your oil pressure and you're set.
