i want to know what it is damnit! they wouldnt just put a connector with 3 wires in it there for nothing!
Well...thats a little more info. It helps to know if the car has no motor, tranny...etc. Not to be an ***, but they do make a lot of connectors that go nowhere. I mean they have a purpose, but they are not used in a day to day manor.

Edit: as mentioned above, your car may not have all the options available on Z's. It may not be feasible for you (or maybe you haven't thought of it) but how about a picture. You know they're worth a thousand words. Good Luck....

looks like it goes up into the dash with the wire bundle on the top right side of the shifter, and comes out at the top left corner.

i have no clue if my moms cam has a micro mode on it for detailed pics at close range, so i did my best

holding the camera zoomed in with one arm far back, one hand with the wires. no flash would make the pic all black, flash up close would make it all white

where does it seem to come from? Try to trace it back as far as you can. It looks like its close to the gas pedal going up into the radio area right? Could it be some kinda light hookup for a lamp thats not working? Do all your lights on you dash work? Do you have a stock radio?

or could it be the connector for an option not on the car like convertable top or TCS or something? Im not too familiar with the wiring under the center console, but those are ideas i thought up. hopefully i helped you out in some way
I'm in agreement with you. I think it goes to a lamp that he does not have hooked up. If you car was an automatic and it was changed to an M6 it could be lighting for the gear selection lights. It could be for the center console hatch light. Do you see where I'm going with this? It looks like a light connector....

Did it used to be an auto? You told me is was an M6, so I looked at M6 diagrams.

Thought it might be the BTSI, but that is not it.
