Question What is this code trying to tell me?

My SES came on this afternoon, I scannned the car and the code is P1661. Description of the code is "Intake Manifold Tuning valve control Circuit Low". What causes this and how do I fix it?

P1661, are you sure? That is for the MIL (SES) circuit itself.

Yeah, that is what the scanner pulled was 1661. What could cause the MIL (SES) to throw a code? Is there a short some where? Thanks for the help btw.

It seems odd because that code is when the pcm senses the wrong voltage on the MIL circuit. Could be the bulb or the wiring. But...the MIL is working because you saw it on <shrug>. Is it still on?

I guess it could be that the circuit is grounded and causing the light to be on all the time.

If that was the only code, try resetting the pcm and see if it comes back.

Yeah that is the only code and the lamp was lit up. So I did as you suggested, I reset the code and I will see if it comes back.

One thing to note is I did a search on this board and one other for P1661 and found two other people that have had this code show up. The interesting thing is they also have 1996 LT1's. I wonder if there is something in common that GM did on the 96 LT1's that is now showing up as a P1661, could be just a coincidence though.
