Use Shoebox's LT1-specific code list and you don't have to guess:

http://shbox.com/1/Dtcs.htm

P1371 = Distributor Ignition (DI) low resolution circuit

That means the PCM is having trouble finding the low resolution pulse pattern from the Opti. It needs that data to fire the injectors in the correct sequence. When the PCM can't find the low res puls pattern, it shuts down the fuel pump and injectors.

If your engine is running, its a "stored" code. If the engine will not start, its an "active" code. Not unusual to find it as a stored code. Clear it (pull "PCM BAT" fuse for 30-seconds) and see how soon it comes back.

I Just recently purchased a 97 camaro that did not run and figured it was the opti that was the proble so I used autotap to check the codes and it gave me the P1371, I already ordered the Delteq Opti-Direct system and he (JC) said that as long as the sensors are good then the Delteq will fix it, if they are bad then I will need to replace the Opti, so my question is do I need to replace the opti or not any answers
