What are the Chances, Please Help....
I recently put new head gaskets on my car along with some other stuff. Not only to get it running for about an hour before I lost all oil pressure. I believe I spun a bearing. Either my question is this, I am going to try and get away with just putting in new bearings and an oil pump and see what happens. But what about the cam bearings? I am almost positive they need to be replaced. I will have the motor out while I am doing this so I will be able to get a good look at the cam and everything else. I guess I could take the cam out and see how the bearings look. Make sure there not wasted. I just dont have the $$$ for a full rebuild. The cylinders looked great when I did the Head gaskets so I want to stay away from boring and machine work. all I know is I need my car and I have noooo $$$. I dont know.

Yeah I know, theoreticly if everything is ok then I MIGHT be able to get away with it. who knows. My Luck, I might as well Buy a rotaing assmbly and send the block to the machine shop to get done up b/c it will probly be real bad when I get it apart.

Does your engine make any clacking sound? If it does you may have spun a rod bearing. If not it may be a main or cam as you said.
If you spun a bearing, you're more than likely to have metal shavings/bearing crap all throughout your engine. Do it right once the first time so you don't have to worry about it.
When I spun my rod bearing, it wiped out my crank, my camshaft, 2 lifters, scuffed enough against the side of the cylinder that I needed to get an over-bore, I think that was the extent of the damage.
Before you go ordering parts, see what the damage is first.
If you spun a main bearing, you might be looking at having to get a line bore, that runs $200+ depending on your area.
If you need a rebore/cylinder hone, figure $125-$200.
Cam Bearing installation should only run you ~$20 or so, along with the freeze plugs.
You're going to definitely want to get your block hot tanked & magnafluxed ($75-$100) to get all metallic crap out of there and make sure nothing is cracked.
Gasket set will run you $200-$300
Set of bearings (main, cam, rod) will go for ~$60-$70 or so.
Rings will go for $100 for some good plasma moly's.
Have the machine shop check your crank, see if it can be polished, or reground ($40-$75). You don't want to order bearings yet because of this reason, that you may have to get oversized bearings.
Main thing is, do you have another vehicle to drive while this one is being fixed? It will be worth it if you're short on cash to save up a little bit to do it right the first time.
Get it torn down, see what's hosed, and go from there. Hopefully someone else will chime in with a couple things to check as far as oil pressure goes, before you go ripping it apart.
Hope that helps.
PS. your darn sig is 15 lines long
I got chastised when mine went over 5, may wanna clean it up a little bit.

Re: What are the Chances, Please Help....
Thanks its a lil shorter now. I almost gaurentee that the motor will need to be completly rebuilt. There is a a lot of bearing material in the oil. So chances are it will all need to be replaced. I know the prices for the machine work. It just sucks b/c of that Thoery of do it right the first time I might as well buy a fordged 383 rot. asm. like I have been planing on doing. It will all come down to how much $$$ I have to play with or lack there of. I own 2 other cars, the Monte is not the best street car...... and a 98 S-10. The S-10 would work But I gave it to my mom to help her out b/c she needed a ride and she is in Jacksonville. I will haft to figure something out.
Re: What are the Chances, Please Help....
Nah keep the bottom end, put the money into the heads and valvetrain. Many people making 400+ rwhp on stock bottom ends with a good topend package. Do some forged pistsons if you need to overbore...otherwise, fuggit.
Just my opinion though.
