Arrow What are the causes of a stumble/hesitation??

I have the very common hesitation in my car. It is more common when my car is warmed up. Mostly in lower rpm's but doesnt pull like it should in the upper rpm level. It just kinda has nothin when u press the pedal in the lower rpm then sometimes will catch and just take off or sometimes it might backfire. Any ideas b/c im taking it to the shop next week to get the plug wires done on it so anything else i could tell them to check?

i would check the coil first. Its cheap and that was the cause of my problem. If not that, then its more than likely the opti.

stumble at low rpm's could be O2's or egr. usually high rpm miss is the coil, however it is cheaper than the opti so try that first. plugs and wires could also cause the hesitation. i would also clean your maf sensor. it could be several things, but O2's and egr should not matter when doing full throttle. see how it is after the plug/wire change. it that doesn't fix it, it may be the opti.

What type of O2's?
I have bosche O2's and my car is still sputtering at low rpm exactly like you described. I think they might be causing it to run rich...

i used ac delco 02's
Also after my header install i can hear that air leak sound comin from my egr i believe. You know the one that some ppl add restrictor plates so it doesnt make the noise would this cause any type of hesitation?

an egr valve not funtioning properly could very well be your problem.

An EGR valve not operating correctly is your problem! If that is the case.

And.....do the plugs and wires yourself. Its a PITA, but you'll save soooo...... much......$$money$$ I hate seeing people being burned by mechanics. I actually burned the dealer so I was one of the lucky few. Good Luck

You misread what I posted.... I was trying to say that if you have a bad EGR valve, the symptoms that you described would go hand and hand with it.
