What causes an SES light while driving for more than 5mins in 6th gear?

After my header install about a year ago when I ride in 6th gear for a few mins i get an SES light. I can turn the car off for 10 secs and start it back and the light goes away and doesnt come back on unless im in 6th gear again for more than a few mins. Has anyone had this problem? I cant remember if i seen someone post about it or not but i think i did. Could it be because of the EGR crap being gone?

I can't offer advice about the 6th gear deal, but it sounds like your EGR. Mine (A4) does this to. I drive for a while the light comes on, and turns off after I restart the car. I had the code scanned at autozone, and they said it was the EGR and I would need a new one, or need to clean out the old one. No big deal really, I'm taking it off when I get headers anyways.

High map possibly because there should be a lot of vacuum at low rpm low throttle. I had this after i removed the map sensor to get to a intake manifold bolt. If you aren't carefull the orange rubber seal doesn't go in straight and will leak. It could be any other kind of minor vacuum leak though. Why not just get it scanned though and quit the guessing?

Probably EGR. You can always scan it to see what the code is.

I try gettin it scanned at AutoZone but the OBD1 scanner didnt fit my connector on my car. The connector on my car is the same design as the OBD2 cars. So he swore up and down i had OBD2 and I kept telling him no it wasnt. I got home and looked up some parts and found an adapter to make the scanner work for my car. So my basically has an OBD2 harness yet an OBD1 computer. Im guessing all 95's are like that yes?

all 95's are like that. If you want to do this yourself, order a cable from Andrew Mattei for $60, download Freescan and check the code yourself. You can even do it on a desktop computer if you can get it close enough (alternately I believe Andrew sells an extra long cable as well.)
