What carb style single plane intake are using on your LTx's??
What carb style single plane intake are using on your LTx's??
To all you guys/gals that are using carb style single plane intake manifolds on your LTx's.
What brand or kind of carburator style intake mainfolds are you using??
When I rebuild my engine I want to change the intake manifold as well.
I am leaning towards a 396ci stroker build w/heavy breathing CNC DART heads which I think are raised intake runner LT4 type.
Does the carb style single plane intake increase the velocity of the intake charge???
Does the single plane intake has a significant increase in plenum volume over the stock LT1/LT4 intake manifold??
How long are the intake runners??
Do the runners flow better than 300 CFM's with or without porting??
I PM'd a guy on the impalassforum who had a 396ci stroker and converted to a single plane intake. He said that one the main reasons for the conversion was that he was getting very uneven air distribution with the stock LT1 intake. His front cylinders was running too and the rear cylinders were running way too rich. Is that your experience???

Is it your intention to run a carb or just to run a carb style intake with an EFI system?
Can' t find the post of Pat Gish's that you are referring to.
I see alot of people do this swap and not have the correct combo. You cant have a stock intake and swap it to a carb style and expect much. You have to have the cam to go with it.
I have been knocked on for my car not running what other people THINKS it should run....but few consider my heavy raceweight and tight nitrous converter.
My car makes 470 to the tires locked SAE through a 4L60E, a 9 inch rear with a Detroit locker, 325/50 drag radials on the rear. Through a FULL exhaust system(no cutout) on pumpgas.
It makes 400 lb ft of torque at 2900 rpm, is almost FLAT across the board peaking at 436 lb ft. Power peaks at 6800 rpm.
Its a 383 Solid roller LT1 with good heads, Super VIc, monoblade, 42lb injectors. Has VERY good street manners. I drive it all over.
If you want this conversion do it.It will have big benefits if you plan on using nitrous.

Do you think you have better air distribution and velocity than the stock LT1 intake with this combo???

There was a thread on ls1tech about a guys single plane swap and he openly admitted he would not do it again. You claim to be all about wanting torque, you need to find that thread and read about the massive losses below like 5500rpms, over 6500 it gained a good bit.
David's car sounds like it make similar torque curve to a little 355 I know of with lowely LT1 heads and intake, just keeps the torque a little longer for a LOT of investment.

HEEEEERE we go, the MYHTICAL 500rwhp Ai car I presume...you cleverly left out this was a six speed car and a 12 bolt.
I guarantee you this, If I swapped a six speed and a 12 bolt into my car it would make a REAL 510+ RWHP and run 130+ mph at 3700lbs.
I got another buddy here locally that makes 525rwhp all motor, weighs 3950lbs and runs 131mph, look him up he is SilverZZ28 on here and LS1tech
The 355 car cant do it at 3300 lbs. Its bullsj!t, anyone with any sense knows it.....sooooooooooooooooooo
Here is my dyno graph, off of Ed Wrights dyno that he said gives low readings compared to most other Dynojets. Hell it's old as Fred Flintstone
This is with two wounded pistons, it makes more now....how much I dont know. WIth these numbers it ran 11.20@121 weighing 3800lbs, I fixed the pistons took a 100lbs out of the car and it runs 11.0x@123-123.9 now.
Also these numbers are through a FULL exhaust system, no cutout and 91 octane pumpgas, airfilter is in the car. This is the EXACT same way it is run at the track.
