What can i use to hold the window up

What can i use to hold the window up

Im in the process of changing my window motors and need something to hold the window up so the spring wont pull it down. What can i use that is safe to hold the window up.

i would use a C-clamp to hold it up

a 2x4 will fit in one of the holes and hold the window perfect!

hey, just FYI: shoebox has a great write up on this with lots of pics and makes for a fast swap on motors.

I used duct tape to hold it up. Worked great for me

i used shoebox's write up and used a c clamp with tape on it to hold the window.. worked great

Cool

I couldn't see spending money on clamps for a one time use(din't consider the pass window someday da),so I used a pvc pipe,like the one from the sprinklers,and cut a large V at the top of it to hold the window in place,and it worked just fine.You just cut to length,test it ,and cut again till it is tight(up to the window glass,and down to the base of the door frame).I can't remember if I used one or two of them(need a defrag of the grey matter).Hope this helps.

I have used quick grip clamps before since the pads on them are more window friendly than a c clamp.
