What cam with my setup?

Motor died on Tuesday, getting a used one here next week. What cam do you guys recommend with my mods staying pretty much the same. I will be adding a 52mm TB when it arrives. Other than that, mods are in sig. I do want it to be street worthy as this still a daily driver. It's not looking like I'll have the money to do any head work right now, so those will remain stock. Also, recommendations on rockers, springs and timing chain would be appreciated.

I have done some searches in the forum, and right now it looks like I could go with a CC305 or similar. Any ideas?

CC305 and the LT4 Hotcam are both very good choices to use with stock heads, alot of guys get them to go very quick.

I would definetly get something smaller than the 224/230, which IMO lacks bottem end.

Two other choices could be the Crain 210/224 cam and the XE218/224 cam.

As far as RRs, Comp Pro Mag are top of the line, any Comp ones will be great. Springs, EX612 springs are good to .600 lift and requite no machining, for around $110. Timing chain, best is the LT4 extreme duty, which costs around $250 new, but you can get a good used one for around $150. They are very strong, good to over 1000hp ive been told.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info. That's pretty much what I was looking for. I'm sometimes worried that the 3.73's might have me giving up too much on the top end, so possibly a cam could help even things out a bit.

If you're staying with stock heads, I'd recommend the Crane 210/224 or better yet the XE 218/224. Both make killer TQ down low, but I believe the Comp makes more overall everything than the crane.

Thanks! I'm taking all opinions at this point. Like I said above, I think I lost maybe a little too much up top with the 3.73's and I'm looking to reclaim a bit of that with the cam. So hopefully that will do the trick. Now, if I come to a budget crunch, can I leave the RR's and springs until later? I think the timing chain is pretty much necessary isn't it?

Thanks again!

Rockers, yes. Springs, No. You will need to put the proper springs in there to avoid valve float.

And do the timing chain too. by all means.

I have had both the Crane 210/224 and the CC 218/224 and both are excellent mild cams for the street. I have not dynoed the Comp yet so I only have the butt dyno and I do not notice much difference between them. I would recommend either.
