What cam for my AFR's??
What cam for my AFR's??
I have AFR 190s with stock intake ports and slightly ported exhausts. here are my flow numbers:
LIft In Ex
.300 194 156
.400 235 185
.500 259 207
.550 265 214
.600 267 225
I have a few cams in mind:
Comp lobes. Either 3315 on both intake and exhaust (230 duration and .544 lift) or 3315 on the intake (230, .544) and a 3194 on the exhaust (230, .622) or 3192 lobes intake and exhaust (224, .567) or lastly 3192 intake (224, .567) and a 3194 on the exhaust (230, .622). All would be on a 112 center.
WHat do you think? Shortblock is Ross 2 valve relief flat tops with Eagle 6" H beams. It will be around 11:1 compression.

Re: What cam for my AFR's??
I'll drive the car quite a bit (possibly a couple hundred miles a week) and it has 3.73's and a manual valve body 700R4. I have 4 stalls, a Vigilante 2500, Vigilante 3200, Vigilante 3500, and a TCS 9/11 4000 stall... I only want to rev as high as I need to so I can keep reliability up.

Re: What cam for my AFR's??
LT1's work best with "split pattern" cams - more duration on the exhaust than the intake side. If you don't plan on high revs, the XE family of lobes, or the equivalent are a good choice. So, I would say that 3192 is a reasonable intake choice. I am not sure why you want as much lift on the exhaust as you would get with the #3194 and suggest something like #3316 (236 @ 0.050", .555" lift with 1.6 rockers).

Re: What cam for my AFR's??
I went with the 306 because mine is a daily driver. I still get 17mpg city/w some HWY, the car idles at 950 with a slight lope. My heads flowed a little better then yours but I still think the 306 would be a good all around cam. I make peak power at 6200 RPM so I don't need to rev it to the moon either. There are other cams that will make more power but it looks like you drive it quite a bit and the 306 in a 383 in a good cam that will give nice power, great TQ and the car will still have compleate drivability.
