What Cam?

i'm planning on doing a cam & 1.6 rr's but not sure if porting heads right away, but will get done eventually. so what i'm wondering i guess, is what would be the best cam i could go with that doesn't necessarily need head work, but will still gain quite a bit more when the heads are done. and where i live, emissions really aren't a problem.

Re: What Cam?

Some research may help, Alot of discussion has been done on this.
Many will say for a daily driver, the comp 224/230...will be the best performer with stock heads and has good potential with heads.
You could go more radical, but that is up to you.
The Hotcam however, is the best for the money....just shy on power of the 224/230....but once you did ported heads, the 224/230 would perform alot better.
But give the search button a try and dig up alot more peoples opinion....

Re: What Cam?

I have the xe 224/230 and like it preety well. But i think i would go bigger if i didnt it again. My friend has a lt4 hot cam and it makes power but it sounds stock. So if you like a choppy idle lt4 isnt it. But like said above there are alot out there so look and decide. call some people and ask them. I think i would go with the 230/236 if i did it again. Dont forget you will need to retune it. i even think there is a cam kit GP now also.
