What is the big deal with LS7 lifters??????

Re: What is the big deal with LS7 lifters??????
They are cheap and are used in the LS7. People are BLINDLY assuming they need replacements and that these are somehow better.
They are a little different BUT I would attribute those differences more to being made LONG after the LT1. Nobody has any problems with the LT1 lifters.
Often it is the same guys who want to "save" money buying other parts on price alone that feel a need to waste money replacing perfectly good stock lifters with these.

I bought the ls7 lifters because my original lt1 lifters take five mins to pump up. GM discontinued the original lt1 lifters and GM says the replacement lifters just happens to be the same part number as the ls7 lifters.

Honestly I got the ls7 lifters cause they were recommended. I built my 383 with 105xxx on the original motor so I thought I would be due for an upgrade. If they are better than lt1 lifters I do not know. But I just popped out 4 pushrods on those lifters (they came out due to my error adjusting the valves I believe) but I cant say they are a bad choice

No real mechanical advantage to using them, but if you must replace them due to damage they'll fit the bill. They are longer, but debate is that the pushrod travel is still the same.
LS7 lifters are what you get when you order ANY lifter for LSx engines (aside from race Caddy lifters) iirc.

They are the stock replacement for all LT1 lifters now, so they are more of an OEM replacement than an upgrade.
Regardless of the debate on whether they are shorter, longer, fatter or thinner, pushrod length should ALWAYS be measured. Basic engine building 101.
