In fact having cams that come with readouts on how accurate they are ground and then having the timing chain throw it off is a pain in the ***. This even happened to Lloyd on his motor, the timing chain was off (it was a Cloyes) and the cam checked out fine. He put a Pro Gear on there and boom, it degreed in perfectly.

I don't know what your luck actually is, I still gotta think that ignorance is bliss for you. Some of us work in 1/2° and .0001" over multiple times and some of us work in close enough and it's good for me ONCE.

Are you two married? i always see you guys argueing here...

both of you sound like good engine builders so i think it would just come down to personal preference... i would buy the most expencive ones...

Ya should have been there in the 265CID days and ya wouldn't have to do no coat tails.

265CID? Man, you should change your screenname to "1oldfartdude"! I cut my teeth on the 265. I had a 55 Belair with glass nose and 4 speed. Ran the Gas class.

Most people I know at the track call me "old fart" I love it.
I had a '55 210 business coupe with a 300HP 327 crate engine. Had a '50 convertible too.

Wink

got my timing set today from summit. it is billet NOT cast. for sure. the chain looks pretty good. Nothing fancy. Double roller and it has the double roller sprockets. Should be plenty strong for anything I am doing for a good while. Definately a stock upgrade and it has the multiple key ways to set it and forget it

It's not that it's strong it's just try putting it in "straight up" with a accurately made cam and when it's +/- 5° off it's not close enough in my book.

Yep that's them... you need to make sure you get a TC for a 86+ SBC or they are gonna give you the wrong part.

So what part# do you usually use? PG4145, PG4145T, PG3145T or PG3145?

Thanks!
