What is the best combo for power/economy??? This should be interesting..

I am just getting at what the best setup would be to make a lot of power using the lt1 engine and also keep great fuel economy like a fine tuned LT1 with a 6 speed can have. I was thinking the answer might be starting with a 4 bolt 355 to keep the displacement close to original so more fuel is not needed. etc etc. I want to build my camaro to get the best gas milage of any v-8 camaro but also be strong as hell with the mods necessary. I guess the only options are intakes, tunes, supercharger or not and what kind of cam would be recommended and that sort of thing. I am not having an easy time selling the block I had built and I dont know why because it is an awesome deal but if I keep it, it will go in one day and I need to start building. I have a new lt1 intake powdercoated black. Color scheme for engine is silver and black with red wires and blue tubes, silver car black convert top. Should come out looking pimp. I dont have the money but one day I will and I know I will get some trickflow heads and have them built with all titanium parts and cnc'd to be perfect. Anyone have any ideas about the engine setup I am thinking of?

Clone my LPE setup.
Lingenfelter LT4 CNC heads/intake
211/219 cam
LPE SuperTube CAI
Hooker LT's w/ ORY
3.73 gears
Strange 12-bolt

Got 26 to 28mpg on the freeway and low 20's in the city.
Ran consistent 12.1's @ 114 w/ a best of 12.0 @ 115 w/ a 3750 race weight. Made 370rwhp and 355rwtq w/ the above mentioned mods.

Right now I have 3.83 gears They are perfect* I have the rear rebuilt strong but not bulletproof. My tires spin now anyway.... I have shorty headers and I think they are. ok. Got the CAI and I actually have a four bolt block built up. but I wanted to do they h beam connecting rods and forged crank... I want to tear down the block, have a balanced eagle system put in and finish it off with the lingenfelter heads. Are the lingenfelter heads cncd and assembled for 1800 better then trickflow? Anyone?

Before going completely off the deep end, what's your budget like?

you have to get a great tune so u have a perfect a/f ratio. msd ignition system, great flowing exhaust and intake. i want to buy lingenfelter heads too. i havent heard of any body that loves their trickflow heads. what compression ratio do you plan to run?

If you go w/ LPE heads make sure to specify for what cid you have. Hopefully they ask, but their sales team isn't always the brightest and I only assumed I had the correct combustion chamber, but just found out recently the chambers were massaged to 60cc's. So on a stock short block w/ a piston ~.020 in the hole w/ -5cc pistons I don't think that is even 10:1. The heads I had were for a 383 w/ stock style pistons.
Make sure to have the chambers cc'd before putting them on.

The Trick Flow LT1 heads have a 62cc combustion chamber. You would have to have them cut down to keep the compression ratio up. If you do that, and have them ported correctly, they are great heads, but "out of the box" they are limited.

ok that was what I heard. I heard the trickflow heads are good castings to work with but are nothing special unless you have them cnc'd. Might as well go with assembled lingenfelters...

I do have an MSD 6al ignition with blaster coil, ngk plugs and taylor wires run over the top. New optispark, new fluidampr, dual rolelr timing set and since my electric waterpump install with a new radiator and a/c ondensor my car never even gets past the 170 or so mark on the temp gauge (it is cold here for the most part now too) It's awesome. never saw my camaro run this cool or so consistantly. My creeping idle problem is the only gremlin left..
