hi ,

i just bought a optima red top for 119$ out the door at murray's

it was rated for 900 CA and 782 CCA, but when we tested it before i left the store it said i had 1059 CCA!!!!

thats like 1200 CA !!! i love the battery...3 year free replacment and 18 month trade in thingy!!

best battery around due to the GEL cell's and their spiral design.

try duracell!!!!! just kidding, the red top is for everyday use and for vehicles where you may have to mount the battery upside down. you cant do that with an acid battery. the yellow top is a deep cycle that is used in high powered stereo systems or cars that do not get run alot or that do not have alternators like a full blown race car. they can be completely discharged and recharged back to a full charge which you cannot do with a typical acid type battery. downside, if you ever discharge the red top it may or maynot come back to life and they are heavy as hell

So with a red top optima if you ever leave your lights on and kill it then its probably dead??? If so then I may go Delco. Optima's cost way to much to replace more than once :P Not that I have left my lights on but once in 3 years but you never know.

I've had a red top for close to a year now. I've accidently left my lights on twice and completely discharged it. Came back both times.

I am a OEM guy so DELCO has always ben my choice, GM parts dealers will still have them. Most non-GM retailers will have the DELPHI ones.

ACDelco has an AGM (absorbed glass mat) battery as well.
The ACDelco Platinum Professional. http://www.batteryweb.com/acdelco_agm.cfm
Can be mounted in any position and it can be mounted in the stock battery tray unlike a lot of the aftermarket spiral-cell batteries.

Good Luck
