Werent all m6 96 vettes LT4s?
"In 1996 RPO LT4 included (and was only available with) RPO MN6". The option cost $1,450.00 and 6,359 were produced.
As far as the LT4 automatic goes, If the guy has documentation he has a very rare and valuable car. GM has been known to build some oddballs in the past.
Hope that helps,
Daren

If you work at GM, you can often get things done that others cannot achieve. For instance, two LS6 engines ended up in two different f-bodies in 2002. The problem was, one of the guys was a big mouth about it, and GM found out and confiscated both cars and returned them to stock. One of the two cars had been on the streets for a while, the other never ended up that far (thanks to mr. big mouth) Both cars were for high level GM execs. Two of my cousins work for GM (one in the LS1/LS6 assembly plant, the other in the plant which casts the blocks and heads) so that's how I found this info out. One of the execs was fired, the other got demoted big time.
Another example is how in 98 there were no Formula convertibles offered to the public, but yet two were made for GM execs, both of them WS6s too.

Than someone removed the original LT4.

Any possibility you can get pics of the Vin # and engine?
I would like to see the only 96 LT1 6-speed vette made.
Sure. I wont see him for several weeks, but as soon as I can get home one of these weekends, I'll do it. I honestly am not full of poop. Its the 1996 collectors edition, six speed, with an LT1. I questioned it also... not because of this manual/lt1 issue, but because I thought all the collectors edition vettes all had the LT4. Sure enough he was right ... no red intake either.
Well...after I re-read the entire article about the 1996 Corvette and the LT4 motor in the October 1995 issue of Motor Trend Magazine, I was left with the impression that all Corvette LT1's had the automatic tranny, and ALL 6 speed cars were mated with the LT4 motor...it pays to keep all of your old magazines for reference!
Anyway, I continued with the research and came up with a few more stats on this subject.
