Were did my power go?

Over spring break i installed a XE 224/230 and 1.6 rr with the supporting pushrods springs and what not(mail tune also). When i put the cam in it seamed that the car didnt feel any faster but i did think to much of it. Then last night i finaly was able to take it to the track and to my dismay the times it ran were identical to the times i ran 8 months prior with out the cam. The car still runs great with a little cam lope but it dosent feel any faster and the track times sucked. Could I have put the cam in a tooth off? what else could cause this loss of power? Could the opti be on its way out?

What stall converter are you running and are you still running 2.73 gears?

when i did my xe 224/236 it was very noticeable. and i was still on stock stall and 2.73s. granted i did a dyno tune instead of the mail in, but still you should definately feel the difference. as far as the track times how are you hooking up? you running street tires or something stickier.

Re: Were did my power go?

I did the same thing. Except it was with a cc306. VERY sad. I also found 2 roasted plug wires last night. Replaced them and now I have the power I was expecting from the cam. Going to try to go back to the track tomrrow night.

I know 1 was not firing because it was soaked in fuel when I pulled the plugs. So I guess beating my prev best while limping isnt half bad. Ran a 13.8 last time @ 103. Hoping for a very low 13 with close to 110. (No traction for me, less something break)

Re: Were did my power go?

Ya Know, This Is My First Lt1 Car But Out Of All The Other Cars I`ve Owned, I Never Have Been Able To Notice A Difference In Power When Installing A Cam And Lifter Kit.

For Example, My 89 Mustang, I Installed The Motorsport B303 And 1.6 Crane Gold Rr`s And Could Not Feel A Difference At All!!

The Only Thing That I Did Notice Was That The Rpm Band Changed.
Im Getting Ready To Rebuild My Lt1 And Im Doing The Whole Motor So I Know Without A Doubt That I Will Feel The Difference

did you change your shift points or do a tune? the cam makes more power up top..thats where you would notice it the most...like from 4000 rpms - 6200 rpms. your gears and your converter are definately not matched for that cam. in fact, i wouldnt be shocked if it felt slower. not to mention, you have shorties in there.
