Went to the dyno today........
Went to the dyno today........
I went to RPM in Lewisville today to see what my car would put down after I got my computer back from Ion yesterday and I'm very pleased with the numbers she put down. The cold weather helped out a lot and the actual numbers were
398 rwhp and 384 rwtq. SAE corrected numbers my best run put down
379 rwhp and 365 rwtq. I have the dyno sheets in hand and the shop is e-mailing them to me so I can post them up here soon. The runs stopped at 6300 rpm each time, but it might have a little more in her as the graph was still climbing when he let off. I'm not saying a lot more, but probably a few more ponies. I've got a ported LT1 intake I'm prepping for paint right now and I will go back once it's on the car. I'll try to do a before and after run so everyone can see what gains are to be had from a ported intake swap. I think it might be 5 or 10 rwhp, but we'll see. Anyway thanks everyone and the graph is below.

Re: Went to the dyno today........
Thanks guys, I think the car is close to where it needs to be personally. I think I have finally got all the bugs worked out. Originally after everything was back together it dyno'd 268, needless to say I wasn't pleased. After getting the valves adjusted right and pulling timing cause it was knocking like crazy it put down 350. Finally I swapped LT's for shorties, got rid of the Cats, put 30# SVO's on, a new Optispark, plugs and wries. All coupled with a new tune from Ion I think it worked out pretty well. The biggest thing I think was probably the bigger injectors followed by the LT's. I have two computers so I'm gonna send one back and see about getting it fine tuned a little more. I'm just happy to have my car back on the road so I don't have to freeze anymore riding the motorcycle to work everyday
Re: Went to the dyno today........
pretty good #'s.
I am glad the #'s are finally coming around for you.
It is good to see the HP #'s still climbing at that high of an RPM with that little bitty cam (low 220 duration). I am sure the car accelerates very well with it.
It looks like bigger inj. and headers helped out alot.

Re: Went to the dyno today........
Very nice - can't wait to see what my cousin puts down with his new 355" 6inch rod LE2 setup in his Caprice.
Hopefully the torque is there to move that tank.
Must say that i'm more interested in the track numbers come next year, dyno is cool - flow #'s are cool - but the track says it all.

I still have my old stock heads and I was wondering what effect would putting on a larger head have, like an LE2. Would the LE1 cam be able to use the extra flow, or is there a point of diminishing returns in this case?

Re: Went to the dyno today........
Nice numbers. Everyone said that the LE TRickflows would hurt my 355" LT1 N/A but with the much bigger 217cc runners and less compression my ole LT1 manged to run it's best 1/8th mi. ET to date (7.18@98mph) on it's first track outing. So once it's tuned it should be rally impressive. Thanks Lloyd Later Clint
