welding opti dowel on a 93?

normally you have to switch to the vented opti to run the double roller timing chain. would it be possible to weld the opti dowel to the cam gear instead of doing the switch?

the only thing the double rollers lack is the keyed hole in the middle.

maybe fill the hole in the middle, cut the cam dowel to size and weld into place.

seems do-able unless im forgetting about something.

anyone have any input?

You can't use a vented opti without a cam that has the larger hole in the front face. Your stock cam won't work.
the only thing the double rollers lack is the keyed hole in the middle.
They also lack the drive for the water pump.

I wouldn't attempt to weld a pin in there, anyway.

i was thinking of keeping the 93 setup (opti and cam) and adding a double roller by making a provision for the opti dowel. i have an electric wp already.

do you not think the welds will hold up in there? its only turning the rotor so there shouldnt be much stress on it besides the rpms....
