Weird overheating problem
Weird overheating problem
My car is a basically stock 94 Z. I have a 160 tstat and a fan switch. With the fan switch off, the temps will sore to about one tick below the red mark, then the fans come on and cool it down just a few degrees and it shoots back up there again. At the same time, my oil pressure drops severely, so I know that the car is actually overheating and its not the guage. When I have the fan switch on, the temps stay just a hair under the 180 mark, even on the hottest days. So with the fans on all the time, the car shows no signs of overheating, but its a different story with the fan switch off. Suggestions?
the fans are set to come on around 230+. The fan also uses a different sensor the the temp gauge. I would changing the fan temp sending switch. you could go the a stock unit or aftermarket unit. summit racing has JET-60602 Chevrolet/Pontiac: 1993-95 Camaro/Firebird 5.7L LT1, JET fan switch Today $44.69 . hope this helps.
