Last night I was driving around town and I raced some mustang and beat him but thats not the point. The point is that when it redlined between first and second and the tranny shifted it felt like something hit the undercarraige right below the center console. Also, when i am going slow something rattles pretty bad but i think it is my y pipe connection to the rest of my exhaust coming loose because i didnt tighten it enough and my cutout makes it come loose. I also noticed that there was a leak under there after the y pipe, there was a little carbon build up. could the first thing be the y pipe connection also?

 

I would check tranny mount.

 

^^^ Bingo. That is most likely it.

Only other thing it might be (unlikely but it happened to me once) is the actual torque arm broke and was hitting the driveshaft tunnel.

 

Sounds to me like your tranny mount broke....

Go to autozone/advance/napa.. Tell em you need a new tranny mount for a 2002 Z/28 although I think they are all 1LE spec now...

how hard is it to change? anybody wanna tell me how to do it and where to locate it?

 

looks like the tranny mount is bad. i got a new polyurethane one from autozone and im in the process of installing it. my jack wont fit between the crossbrace to jack up the tranny so im taking it off. with this off and the mount not supporting it will the tranny mess up?

 

gone through 2 .... easy to change out luckily but annoying as hell
