water temp. gauge?

Quick question. My stock water temperature gauge stopped working.
What should I be checking. I opened the radiator cap and I see coolant flowing.

What do you mean it stopped working? Are you referring to the gauge on the dash cluster? If so, that input is provided by a coolant temp sensor found in the drivers side head.

Yes. Shoebox might have a way to test it on his site. www.shbox.com

You can always hook a scanner up to the pcm to make sure it's working.

Probably just came unplugged.

The sensor in the head between #1 and #3 only sends it's signal to the dash gauge. The temp sensor in the water pump is the one that the PCM uses.

I know, that's why I told him to test to make sure that the OTHER one was working. That's the really important one since it tells the fan when to turn on. The gauge really doesn't make any difference what it reads.

Here is the link to Shoebox's site for testing the water temp sensors: http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#ect
